  1. Misconceptions Regarding Electric Underfloor Heating It has long been established that electric underfloor heating is one of the most economical and sustainable ways of heating your home or office. However, there are several misconceptions regarding how it works and that is why it so important to understand the complete picture as this is one of the smartest decisions you can make when it comes to heating your home or business. The first misconception is that electric underfloor heating comes at a higher price than ordinary radiators. Although the initial installation fee of electric underfloor heating will indeed be approximately 30% more expensive than simply purchasing an ordinary radiator, what is also true is that electric underfloor heating is a long-term investment that will cost you much less in the long run. This is because underfloor heating is significantly more energy-efficient and will require far less maintenance than an ordinary radiator. Additionally, most electric underfloor heating systems will have settings that will enable homeowners to drastically lower their utility bill at the end of the month whereas radiators are, and remain, expensive to operate. The second misconception is that underfloor heating does not generate as much heat as a radiator. Now, although this is, in part, true, it does not take away from the effectiveness of underfloor heating. Although electric underfloor heating may not physically generate as much heat as a traditional radiator, a lot less of it is wasted and it is more evenly distributed. This means that a room will be adequately warmed with underfloor heating whereas you may find that you feel the intense heat of a radiator only within the immediate vicinity of the said radiator. The purpose of underfloor heating is to create a comfortable and ambient temperature in a room so that you can spend time in it without having to be bundled up in layers of clothing. Although a radiator will generate intense heat, this heat will most likely be concentrated around the radiator and, unless you’re sitting right in front of it, it will have much less of an effect on the room as a whole than underfloor heating would. Underfloor heating means that you can move about a room and experience the same ambient temperature in any spot. The third misconception is that underfloor heating takes a while to heat up. Although this may be true of hydraulic systems that work with water, electric underfloor heating works as fast as a radiator and will more evenly heat a room, which will make it seem as if it is heating up faster than the traditional radiator would. That aside, anyone that is making use of any type of heating will do well to consider when and how they would like to be utilising the room in question and set and manage their heating to coincide with their usage of the room. It is quite possible for electric underfloor heating to remain switched on at an ambient temperature that will keep any room comfortable for several hours. As previously stated, it will also not take very long to reach that temperature as the system is electric.

  2. The fourth misconception, and perhaps the most far-fetched, is that underfloor heating is unhealthy. There is absolutely nothing unhealthy about underfloor heating. It may even improve the quality of life of the people living in the home. This is because electric underfloor heating tends to prevent the movement of dust particles in the home which can lead to allergies. It also balances the humidity in a room and this improved humidity and more ambient temperature mean that mold is less likely to grow and fester in the home. For those suffering from respiratory issues or allergies, electric underfloor heating is the way to go. Although there are several misconceptions regarding electric underfloor heating, the truth of the matter is still that it is a sustainable and economical way of evenly heating the home.
