Sherriff Write down title and date - underline both Get your organisers out First task: Put your name on top of the post it note Imagine – If you could ask an actual WWI soldier what the war was like – what questions would you ask? Write down 3 questions that you would like to find out about life in the trenches and WWI for soldiers. Try to use the What, Who, Where, Why, When questions Today’s Enquiry Question/Lesson Objective To discover what life in the trenches was like using primary evidence.

When was it written? • What does the source reveal to you about trench life/conditions/ fighting in the trenches/ methods of warfare? • Is there anything in the source that shocked you? • Is there anything in the source that surprised you? • What did you find interesting? • How useful did you find the letter? – Write a short summary of the key points that the letter reveals to you. • Do you think the source is reliable? Explain fully using the 5 W questions – Who, What, Where, When, Why • Has your letter answered any of your questions that you wrote at the start of the lesson?
