  2. Gulf of Mexico Oil spill The oil spill that occurred on the 20 of April 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico has become the largest accidental oil spill in history. This spill was caused by the company BP after the Deepwater Horizon exploded on April 20, the oil leak was not identified until two days later but was estimated that 62,ooo barrels of oil were flowing into the ocean a day. The oil spill was not completely stopped until July 15, 2010 but by then 4.9 million barrels of oil had spread throughout the gulf.

  3. Consequences BP would face many problems due to the spill, specifically on May 26, 2010 130 lawsuits were filled against BP and then later increased to 220 on June 17. This oil spilled caused a great amount of damage throughout the Gulf and it made a significant impact on animals. Many animals were affected by this spill specifically on November 2, 2010 an estimate of 6,814 dead animals were collected.

  4. Deforestation of the Amazon Deforestation in the Amazon has been happening since the early 1970’s but it has not caused a major impact until the year 2000. Between the years 2000 and 2005 the Amazon rain forest has lost more than 132,000 square kilometers of forest due to the economic growth and wanting to create more space. The deforestation of the Amazon is a major topic because without trees more carbon dioxide will accumulate in the atmosphere which increase our chances of global warming and our water cycle will have a drastic change which would then cause our climate to change.

  5. Environmental Lawyer An environmental lawyer specializes in making sure that companies follow environmental laws and if they don’t they gather enough evidence to be able to sue the companies.

  6. Environmental Law The environmental law is a huge issue that lawyers must know about because it’s these laws that companies must follow and that lawyers must be aware that they are following. The environmental law is a interlocking of treaties in which all major companies must follow to help reduce the impacts of human activity.

  7. Pollution A lot of the worlds pollution is caused by factories mostly because they exert a great amount of contaminants to the air, soil and water. When factories pollute and break the law environmental lawyers play an immense part in making sure that theses companies are trialed and if found guilty make sure that they clean up the polluted area in the correct format.
