  4. Introduction • Hajj is obligatory (WAJIB) only once in a lifetime upon all Muslims. • It becomes Wajib immediately a Muslim can afford to go for Hajj. HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007

  5. Istitaa’a • The money should be free of debt, Khums etc. • Expenses should not put undue hardship on dependents HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007

  6. Preparation • Mental preparations even more important than practical preparations. • It is not a holiday excursion, so hardships and inconveniences should be borne patiently. HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007

  11. Ihram - Practical • Worn at Meeqat • Men have to wear two unstitched clothes. One covers from navel to knees (or longer), the other to cover shoulder and arms and a part of the back.   12. Ihram - Mustahabbat • Wash body, remove pubic hair, cut nails • Ghusl: 5 Niyyats, Ihram, Entry into Haram, Entry into Makka, Entry into Masjidul Haraam and for Tawaf. • 2-6 Rak’at Namaz HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007

  13. Ihram - Spiritual • Everyone dressed the same, no sign of status, wealth etc, visible. • Reminds you to treat everybody the same. • Reminder of Kafan, except here there is a return. HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007

Talbiyya • Say immediately after wearing Ihram: • “Labbayk, Allahumma Labbayk.Labbayk, La Shareeka laka labbayk.Innal-hamda wan-n’imata laka wal-mulk, La shareeka lak (labbayk)” • “Here I am at your service, O Lord, here I am.   15. Tawaf - Preparation • Wudhu is Wajib, Ghusl recommended. • You cannot enter Masjidul Haram in state of Janabat or Haidh. • Body and clothes must be Pak. • Circumcision (New Muslims?) • Niyyat. HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007

  16. Tawaf - Practical • Starting and ending point of each circuit is the Black Stone • Ka’ba must be to your left • The arc (Hajar Ismail) should be included in the Tawaf • Dhikr, Qur’an, Salawaat or Dua during Tawaaf • 7 rounds in all HAC | ALI-131 ONLINE SEMINAR | 11/18/ 2007
