  4. Additional Partners Additional Partners • All partner schools are in Ngoma District • Lutheran South High School in St. Louis & Rwamagana Lutheran Secondary School • Westminster College Mesa, AZ campus & Gahurire Primary School

  5. About the Lamps About the Lamps • Run on solar power • Are guaranteed for two years and have five-year lifetime • Each lamp costs $11

  6. Who receives them? Who receives them? • Solar study lamps are provided to students in Primary 6 who do not have electricity, so they can study at night • Students receive the lamps during a critical year - before they take the national exams • Students “pay” for the lamps through community service to the school & their community

  7. Partner SchoolsWhy? Why? • Typically students have to study by candlelight or kerosene lamps, which are very expensive and unsafe • If students pass the national exams, they will have the opportunity to go on to secondary school - which will provide them, their family & community a brighter future!

  8. Goal Goals • Provide lamps to 100 students at Gashanda Primary School • Five-year commitment by HFC

  9. Goal Library Project • Gashanda Primary School • Partner with Kibungo Rotary Club to raise money for the construction of 6-8 bookcases for the school

  10. Goal Library Project • School will fill the shelves with both English & Kinyarwanda fiction & non-fiction books
