  1. Bill Hionas Explains the Attraction of Precious Metals Bullion as an Investment (1888PressRelease) Precious metals offer a safe haven in times of economic turmoil. MIAMI, FL - It seems like everyone is rushing to buy gold bullion, in fact investors seem to be falling over themselves in a mad panic to lay their hands on as much gold as possible. Why is it that precious metals are so attractive as an investment when the economy seems to be in turmoil? As a generalization, the price of gold tends to rise as the dollar, and often commodities, fall. When there is doubt about the future of the economy, - and there is certainly loads of doubt at present - holding onto cash, which may be devaluing daily is clearly not a good idea. Interest rates tend to be low, so traditional savings accounts and CDs are not a good idea either since, in real terms, you are actually losing money. Add inflation to the mix and you are losing money even faster. Investing in commodities also means you are likely losing money; gold, however, holds its value. As a precious metal, gold, like other precious metals, has an intrinsic value that will not depreciate. Unlike paper money, gold and silver are durable and are readily accepted and traded in any currency; in this way they actually do act like money, but money that does not devalue. Little wonder then that prudent investors rush to buy gold and silver bullion in times of economic uncertainty. "Precious metals bullion is a unique financial instrument," says Bill Hionas, who leads Pan American Metals of Miami, a precious metals brokerage. "It has an intrinsic value and investors are buying actual physical bullion, not betting on future prices or buying stock in a company which could devalue rapidly should there be another recession."
