Eligibilityfor DDRAFellowship • AstudentiseligibletoreceiveaDDRAFellowshipifthestudent: • isacitizenornationaloftheUnitedStatesorisapermanentresidentoftheUnited States; • isagraduatestudentingoodstandingataneligibleinstitutionofhighereducationand,whenthefellowshipperiodbegins,isadmittedtocandidacyinadoctoraldegreeprograminmodernforeignlanguagesandareastudiesatthatinstitution; • plansateachingcareerintheUnitedStatesupongraduate,orwhoplanstoapplylanguageskillsinworldareasvitaltoU.S.nationalsecurityandknowledgeofthesecountriesinthefieldsofgovernment,internationaldevelopment,andvariousprofessions;and • possessesadequateskillsintheforeignlanguage(s)necessarytocarryoutthedissertationresearchproject. *Slidesarefor informationalpurposesonly*

DDRAandFUSP-IIE • As statedinourDDRARegulations under662.22(b)Noapplicant forafellowshipmaybeawardedmore thanonegraduatefellowshipunderthe Fulbright-Hays Actfromappropriationsforagivenfiscal year. • Anapplicant tothe DDRAProgrammust indicate onhis/her applicationto the programifhe/she hascurrentlyappliedforaFUSP-IIEgrant. • Onceacandidate has acceptedanawardfromthe FUSP-IIEprogramand FUSP has expendedfundsona student,he/sheisthenineligiblefora DDRAgrant.If,atanypoint,thecandidate accepts the FUSP awardpriorto beingnotifiedofhis/her statuswiththe DDRAProgram,the candidatemustnotifythe DDRAoffice immediately. • Ifafterconsultationwiththe FUSP programwedeterminethat FUSPhasexpendedfundsonthe student(e.g.,the candidate has attendedthe pre- departure orientationor was issuedgrantfunds),the candidatewillbe deemedineligiblefortheDDRAawardat that time. *Slidesarefor informationalpurposesonly* 10
