Migration to Central Services • Collaboration database • People • use CERN/HR database (PIE) • LHCb secretariat, supported by Olivier Martin, Wim van Leersum • First 2 weeks in July • Documentation • Use CERN Library Weblib system for storage and retrieval of LHCb internal notes • Support from Jean Yves LeMeure • Last 2 weeks in July • Mailing Lists – use Listbox and archive, pictures? • Support from Arnaud Taddei • Operational by beginning of August • Web – central CERN Webserver • Support from Alberto Pace • Work starts beginning of August

Review structure and content of pages • HOME : access to common information • Fast access to relevant information e.g. next collab meeting • Archiving of old information e.g. link to LOI • General services…BWHO, meetings,… • LEVEL 1 : access to projects • Fast access to project specific general information, events, people, documents, mailing lists • Mainly links • LEVEL 2 : contains real information • Arranged so that topical and relevant information accessible • Possibility of sub-levels for more detailed information

  4. Review File Structure • Each sub web maintained by a different person • Common approach to file structure and naming will ease maintenance e.g. agendas, minutes,… • Naming of directories should reflect contents of pages rather than format of the documents

  5. Page Layout • Navigation bars • Is vertical bar useful? At which levels? • Horizontal bar at top with small set of buttons? • Pages with information content should not use shared borders? • Takes up space when printing • …change default?

  6. Management • Need Webmaster • Technical support • Maintain general web pages – every day • Need Subwebmasters • Maintain subwebs • Archive obsolete information
