3. Philosophy Statement At Woodbridge Elementary School, we believe that we must provide opportunities for children to make appropriate behavioral choices. Our expectations for students’ behavior must be taught and reviewed frequently. When handling behavior issues, we understand the importance of establishing strong positive relationships with students. We will always respond to the situation in a caring and professional manner. A positive school climate guides social and academic growth for all students. Positive school-wide behavior management is necessary if learning is to take place.

6. How will you learnthe rules and procedures? Classroom teachers will teach the rules and reinforce daily. Morning show presentations Posted on Woodbridge website Rules will be posted in classrooms and throughout the building.

7. School Procedures All students may enter school, no earlier than 7:30 A.M., and go immediately to the cafeteria or their classrooms. Students are not to go to their classrooms before they have had breakfast. At dismissal, all day care and bus riders are escorted to the bus and are to board immediately or will sit in designated areas as they wait for their daycare bus to be called. Car riders are escorted by teachers to the cafeteria. Students are to read or work quietly as they wait for their name to be called. Walkers are escorted by designated teachers to the appropriate exit (Woodbridge Blvd. or Northbridge).

8. School Procedures In the hallways students must always walk on the right side. Students not escorted by a teacher must be with a buddy as well as have a hall pass. Teachers walk students to the cafeteria line for lunch. Students sit at designated tables and remain seated unless given permission to get up by an adult monitor. Students must get all supplies when they go through the line the first time. Cafeteria rules are posted at all times. Restroom rules are posted and are reviewed by homeroom teachers. Office referrals are used as one form of consequence in our discipline plan. An office referral usually comes as a last resort.

School-wide Consequences Students who choose not to follow the rules will be reprimanded in one of the following ways depending on the severity and/or frequency of the misbehavior: Verbal Reprimand Parent Notification in student agenda Time Out Parent Notification through phone call or conference Intervention by Guidance Counselor Referral to office

11. In-School Suspension Plan ISS is one consequence in our system of progressive levels of discipline. Students complete individual class assignments and a written reflection on their behavior choices that caused their ISS placement, including other alternatives to demonstrate positive behavior choices. Repeat offenses may require a parent conference.
