GCSE Science at The Grange SchoolTeachers – Mrs Skuse/Mrs Stuart/Mr Langley/Mr James/Mr Morten GCSE AQA Science A (Core Science) ISA (Investigative Skills Assignment) -25% B1 (Biology) exam 25% C1 (Chemistry) exam 25% P1 (Physics) exam 25% Some Yr11 students sat this GCSE at the end of Year 10. Those that got below their target grade will re-sit it again at end of Year 11 along with those who have not yet taken it – about 75 students in total.

GCSE Science at The Grange SchoolTeachers – Mrs Skuse/Mrs Stuart/Mr Langley/Mr James/Mr Morten GCSE AQA Additional Science ISA (Investigative Skills Assignment) -25% B2 (Biology) exam 25% C2 (Chemistry) exam 25% P2 (Physics) exam 25% ALL Yr 11 students (except those doing Btec) will sit this GCSE at the end of Year 11 – 88 students in total.

GCSE Science at The Grange SchoolTeachers – Mrs Skuse/Mrs Stuart/Mr Langley/Mr James/Mr Morten GCSE AQA Separate Sciences (Triple Science) For each of the 3 Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) there are 3 exams and an ISA e.g. for the Biology GCSE ISA (Investigative Skills Assignment) -25% B1 (Biology) exam 25% B2 (Biology) exam 25% B3 (Biology) exam 25% There are 29 Year 11 students following the Triple Sciences They will do all the Science A and Additional Science exams along with extension modules.

Exam 20% Unit B683 Commercial Horticulture and Livestock Husbandry 20% Exam. Unit B684 Environmental and Land-Based Portfolio 60% Internal Assessment. Component 1 – Practical Skills Component 2 – Investigative project Component 3 – Work related Activity. 44 Students

  8. How can you support your Yr11 child this year? 1. Homework and Independent Study • Your child should be doing 3- 4 hours a week working on their Science. This should be a combination of: • Homework set by the teacher • Independent work going over the work done in class to make sure they understand it using textbooks/revision books/websites etc. • Revising and Learning all content covered since beginning of year 10. • Ensuring they catch up on work missed due to absence

Resources to support learning. • All students have been given GCSE Textbooks. • All students have been encouraged to buy a revision book that matches the course. • School Science Blog has Past Papers, markschemes and other revision materials. • Students can access Learning Resources from home and other websites such as GCSE bitesize. • For details see Science notice board

  11. How can you support your Yr11 child this year? 4. Be aware of Key Dates. • Mock Exams – November, January and March • ISAs will take place in January and February – with extra days for some during INSET days/School holidays
