  2. What is ITAS? • ITAS is an academic initiative of the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE). • The program aims to: • improve academic outcomes for all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students by providing supplementary tuition, • supplement normal teaching efforts and cannot be used to substitute or replace them, • accelerate educational outcomes for Indigenous Australians beyond those which could reasonably be expected from the provider’s core resources alone.

  3. How do Tutors register for ITAS? • You can go to the SIAS website and print off a ITAS Tutor Application pack http://www.jcu.edu.au/sias/public/groups/everyone/documents/form_download/jcu_084240.pdf • You can respond to advertisements placed in the employment section of the Cairns Post or the Townsville Daily Bulletin • Be qualified, either through formal education or relevant experience, to be eligible to deliver tutoring under ITAS TT. In line with other universities this means the tutor must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or above or a result of Credit (65%-74%) or above in the subject the tutor will be providing tuition for. • Once completed you need to forward this information to the ITAS Coordinator/ITAS Officer in Townsville or Cairns Ms Louise WasonMs Carly McEwanITAS Co-coordinator Administration Officer/ITAS Officer Phone: (07) 4781 5518 Phone: (07) 4042 1046Fax: (07) 4781 4033 Fax: (07) 4042 1045Email: Lesley.Wason@jcu.edu.au Email: Carly.Mcewan@jcu.edu.au
