  1. Web based matching of transports- Internal presentation for discussions Leif Olsson

  2. Main idea with the portal Shipping agent: Fill the load carrier that is already scheduled 60% left! Supplier: Get betterprice on transport with low emissions and delivered in time Loadcarrier, 20% left!

  3. Existing systems, commercial examples, Sweden Cost and time considered in these systems No emissions considered in these systems DHL Delego Etc. Systems under development, an example LogIt D2D – Interbaltic/Transbaltic http://www.logit-systems.com

  4. The prototype as a starting point, only in Swedish List of transport alternatives minimizing the overall transport cost (in prototype)

  5. The problem description NOT SUPPORTED BY ANY OTHER SYSTEM! Cost Time Emissions Uncertainty Intermodality Conflict between criterias Uncertainty Note: This is only an example to illustrate the problem, for instance, cost for different transport modes depends on the length of the actual transport etc.

  6. GUI today, also in english etc (activity 5.4)

  7. Activity 5.2: Optimization model illustration • Network model • Degree of detail: Everything is possible!

  8. Activity 5.2 • Minimizing total transport cost • Emissions and delivery time as constraints • The routes in the current example (extension of prototype model) • 7 Routes • 55 Distinct legs • Intermodal • Train, Ferry, Truck

  9. The results from the example (activity 5.2) Solution procedure (activity 5.2) Run optimization model Solution 1 2 3 Decrease: Allowed total time, Allowed total amount of emissions.

  10. Visualization of the example (activity 5.2) Red arrows is the routes choosed by the system in real time Three transports on the same ferry filling the trucks with additional 5, 9, 7 tons respectively 6 6 9+7 8 5+9+7 8 4 5+7 4 2 4 2

  11. Currentmodel status (example) • No uncertaintyconsidered • Onlyminimizing the transport cost • But emissions and time is included as constraints • Will be integrated with the portal summer of 2011 (activity 5.1) Activities: Current and future • How to handle • Uncertaintransportation time • Multiple Criterias (Cost, Time, Emissions) • Considered in activity 5.3 starting in august 2011 • GUI developed so that multiple transports can be considered (not possible today, activity 5.4)

  12. Choosebetween routes that are suffiencely different (activity 5.3) • Different transport modes! • Different routes! Portfolio of transport alternatives!

  13. Activity 5.3 • Consideringuncertainty in model : Less disturbances! • Yes, butdisturbancescannever be completlyavoided ! • Disturbances management thereforeimportant – portfolio of transport alternatives! Before After Uncertainty included in model Portfolio of transport alternatives

  14. Test casedevelopment, start date (Activity 5.5) August 2011 Test case nr 1 Other test cases (next slide): Discussions initiated with Finnish and norweigan partners in august 2011 Suppliers will be selected from these companies customers (case 1) Reference groups will consists of financers and the involved companies

  15. The other possible test cases Case 2: Special transports in Osterbotnia with Finnish partners Case 3: A case study in Norway toghether with Norweigan partners Case 4: Food transports in the corridor with partners from all countries

  16. Interested actors outside the project Rauma- Gävle ports, Route 61 Mittskandia (Umeå area) Cooperation regarding portal devlopment Contact have been etablished with the Transbaltic Wp 5.3 (Deployment of ICT toolbox)-Poznan, Poland Model development in cooperation with researchers at Stockholm Univeristy (joint research group)

  17. Required data to test the portal: Small example included in red This is the data needed to test the current portal. Additional data can be added as needed. The model to match the transports are very general and can be extended in manydirections

  18. First demonstration with real data planned for january 2012 • First article is under review in the scientific journal Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems. • This presentation is an extension for internaluse in the project of the presentation at the MCDM 2011 conference in Jyväskylä, Finland, 13-17 june 2011 • Thanks for listening!
