  4. Full Time Student Status In Grade 12, PETHS students are required to carry a minimum of SEVEN (7) courses over both semesters

  20. Cooperative Education • This program is for students going to university, college, apprenticeship or work. • Allows students to earn grade 11 or 12 credits in a workplace setting while exploring a career of their choice. • Two co-op credits can be counted towards the compulsory groups.

  21. College Delivered Dual Credit • Dual Credit courses are for Grade 11 & 12 students. As well, SHSM and OYAP students may receive some industry-specific certifications in Dual Credit courses. • As ministry-approved courses, Dual Credits allow students (while they are still in secondary school), to take college or apprenticeship courses that count towards both the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and a postsecondary certificate, diploma, or degree, or an apprenticeship certification

  24. Prerequisite Planning for Post-Secondary Learning • Colleges, universities and other post-secondary institutions also have prerequisites for entry to their programs • Check program admission requirements carefully – they are not the same at all institutions.

  25. THE DESTINATIONS • Students in Ontario have many options for post secondary training. • You can choose from 28 colleges, 19 universities, hundreds of private career colleges and over 100 apprenticeship opportunities.

  26. College Admission Guidelines • High school diploma required • Additional requirements, such as interview • English entrance test, Math test, portfolio, etc. • Health/Science programs may require 12 Math • Consult specific college programs for entrance requirements

UNIVERSITY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma required • English – ENG4U1 • Six Gr. 12 “U” and/or “M” courses • Check individual university program prerequisites • Non-academic requirements such as Personal Statement of Experience, Supplemental Application Form, Portfolio, Interview, etc.

  29. Planning –the IPP? • A web-based Individual Pathways Plan – accessible on any computer or smart phone. • A planning tool which documents your education and career and life plans • A tool to help students explore and develop pathway planning

  31. How Do You Access the IPP? • Go to: www.careercruising.com • Student Log-in: YORK- Student # • Password: Birthdate (month/day/year) e.g. “May, 23, 1998” would be “05231998”

  35. Log In to Your Course Planner Enter Your Student Number First time you login, your password is your birthday. If you have changed your password last year, it will be what you changed it to.

  36. Alternate Courses You must choose 2 Alternate courses • Choose these in the same way you choose the Elective courses • Your Alternates WILLbe used if your Elective courses do not work in your timetable – CHOOSE WISELY!!!

  37. “Other Credit” Box • On the planner there is a box labelled “Other Credit” • Use this if you plan on taking a course at summer school You are not registered for Summer School • You will still need to register inApril/May

  38. RED AND BLUE CIRCLES The blue circle will give you additional information about the course The red circle prevents you from submitting the course form
