Located in a small clinic, called Elite Nursing Home, Bandra, it represented the first step of a long journey. Befitting its lofty goals, the first center was inaugurated by Dr. ChandrikaKenia, the then Health Minister of the Government of Maharashtra. The endeavorwas blessed by Smt. Naliniben(visionary social activist) and Dr. ChhaganlalDedhia(renowned Urosurgeon), the venerated parents of Dr. NiteenDedhia. https://www.ojaseyehospital.com

  4. The opacificationof the normal transparent lens is called cataract. The Latin word ‘cataracta’ means ‘waterfall’. Imagine trying to peer through a sheet of falling water or through a frosted or fogged-up window. Development of Cataract varies from person to person but as a general rule, most cataracts develop slowly over a period of time. A cataract can take months or even years to reach a point where it adversely affects vision.

  5. LASIK or ‘Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis’ is one of the most trusted laser eye surgeries for the treatment lasikasaof Myopia (near-sightedness), Hyperopia (far-sightedness), and Astigmatism (blurred vision). This laser vision correction technique is performed on the cornea so that light entering the eye can be focused on the retina for clearer vision. LASIK will completely eliminate your dependence on spectacles or contact lenses in a short 15 minute surgery.

  6. Corneais the first coat of eye which is transparent circular structure.Functionally it acts as a lens responsible for focusing rays inside the eye. It is an important optical structure through whichrays of light enter the eye. Any damage or injury to this delicate structure can lead to permanent loss of corneal transparency or in other words causeclouding andopacification.

  7. In a normal eye, a clear transparent fluid called ‘aqueous humor’ is secreted and continuously drained out via microscopic channels inside the eye and then into the blood vessels. If these vessels are blocked due to any reason, the fluid starts accumulating within the eye and pressure starts building up. If this pressure is not controlled, it causes damage to the optic nerve of the eye, leading to blindness. Glaucoma can be broadly divided into two main categories: “open angle” and “closed-angle” (or “angle closure”) glaucoma. Open-angle chronic glaucoma is the most common type where the loss of vision is gradual and painless. Usually it is detected when patients come to the eye doctor for a routine eye check up.

  8. Retina is like the film in a camera. Retina is the third and inner coat of the eye which is a light-sensitive layer of tissue. When the focused light hits the retina, a picture is created and sent to the brain through the optic nerve (the nerve of the eye), thus giving us vision. Sometimes part of the retina either tears, pulls away or detaches from the back of the eye; when this occurs that part of the retina cannot gather light ans results in vision loss

  9.  Dry eye syndrome is caused by a chronic lack of sufficient lubrication and moisture on the surface of the eye. Consequences of dry eyes range from subtle but constant eye irritation to significant inflammation and even scarring of the front surface of the eye.  Dry eyes are very common, and dry eye syndrome is a major reason for visits to the eye doctor

  10. Childhood eye problems are common. Eyes that ‘wander’, vision problems, eye infections, and eye injuries are all common among children. You can help protect your child’s eyesight by watching out for warning signs and taking your child to a doctor at the first sign of a problem.

  11. OculoplasticSurgery is cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on the eyelids, orbit (bones and anatomic structures behind the eyeball) and lacrimal (tear drain) system. Orbit The cavity in the skull that contains the eye is called the orbit formed from parts of frontal, sphenoid, zygomatic, lachrymal, ethmoid, palatine and maxillary bones. Eye doctor plays a role in treating /managing fracture of any of these bones in case of trauma. Oculoplasty Patients of all ages may need Oculoplasty, i.e. eyelid and facial reconstructive surgery for needs purely cosmetic or purely functional. The most advanced and innovative techniques of facial and eyelid surgery for such conditions as excess upper eyelid skin that obstructs vision (bleharoplasty), eyelid ptosis(droopy eyelids), entropion(eyelids that turn in), ectropion(eyelids that turn out), problems of the tear ducts, and thyroid eye disease.

  12. Advancements in contact lens technology offer the potential for successful contact lens wear to most of our patients. Contact lenses not only enhance visual acuity and appearance, but also improve performance in different visual tasks; helps avoid fogging of glasses in different environments, and also improve performance of other fast activities like sports.
