  1. Tornado/High Wind/Severe Weather Warning ProceduresGeneral InformationAn announcement will be made that a Severe Weather Exercise and /or real event is taking place. Teachers and students will immediately proceed to their designated shelter area (see below). For a tornado drill (real event only), open windows before leaving the rooms.  Close all interior doors to protect people from any injuries related to flying glass.  Students should be reminded to keep personal items with them (i.e., keys, money, etc.)Movement to shelter areas should be swift, orderly and without conversation. Students are to stand along the interior walls in the hallways of the shelter areas as much as possible allowing a walkway in the middle of the hall. In a real event, everyone must line up along interior walls, face the wall, crouch down on knees with elbows and hands locked together over their head. While in the hallway, students should be away from interior windows. At the conclusion of the drill or when it is safe, instructions to return to the classrooms will be announced on the PA system.

  2. SHELTER AREAS Level A Stay in the hallway area directly outside the room. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/exit/window areas. • Cafeteria and Food Service area- Report to the hallway areas directly outside the cafeteria (between the food court and the gym lobby). Students should stand against the interior walls on both sides of the hallways leading from the cafeteria to the gymnasium. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/exit/window areas. • Gymnasium – report to the hallway areas between the locker rooms and the gymnasium. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas. • Other Programs/Offices – Report to the hallway area directly outside the classrooms/work area. Student and staff should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas.

  3. Level B • Health Careers SLC – Report to the hallway area directly outside the classrooms/work area. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas. • Main Office, Attendance Office, Nurses Office – Report to hallway area to the left and/or right of the IMC entrance. • Auditorium – Report to hallway areas leading from C Stairway into the Media Wing. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas. • IMC – Report to hallway area to the left and/or right of the IMC entrance. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas. • Future Planning Center – Report to hallway area immediately outside the rooms. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas.

  4. Media Wing– Report to the hallway area directly outside the classroom. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas. • Other Programs/Offices – Report to the hallway area directly outside the classrooms/work area. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas.

  5. Level C • Report to hallway areas directly outside the classrooms. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas. • Other Programs/Offices – Report to the hallway area directly outside the classrooms/work area. Students should stand against the interior walls. Caution should be taken to keep students away from any entrance/ exit/window areas.

  6. Level D • Rooms D099-D111- Exit classrooms and proceed to the C-stairwell to the B-level. Enter the auditorium through the left doors and proceed down the left side of the auditorium (a hall monitor will help direct flow of traffic). Students should stand against the walls. • D112-D133 -Exit classrooms and proceed to the B-stairwell to the B-level. Walk down B-level past attendance office through the double doors. Enter the auditorium using the far right doors and proceed down the right side of the auditorium along the wall(a hall monitor will help direct flow of traffic). Students should stand against the walls. • Note: Any other special classes/program/agency/office not listed should follow the plans for that specific SLC that they are housed within.
