  43. These are the motivations which drive a person to Christ. The unsaved man is conflicted: He knows God He knows his own sinfulness and condemnation He experiences his enmity with God and he must find a way to deal with these problems Longing for Eternity Alienation God Loneliness sin Emptiness judgment Guilt

  44. Major Principle Evangelism is not an intellectual issue, it is a moral issue

  45. What can the unsaved individual do To avoid their awareness of God? To deal with their knowledge of personal sinfulness and judgment? To manage the effects of sin in their life? To overcome the liabilities of their sin?

  46. Rationalize the Evidence Rationalization is the process of finding reasons for not accepting what one already knows to be true. Like a cap on the jar, it prevents the conflicts caused by prepared awareness from causing problems. Rationalization God emptiness sin loneliness Longing for eternity alienation guilt judgment

  47. Rationalize the Evidence … although they knew not God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks; Rationalization … they became futile in their speculations, (Romans 1:21) Rationalization God sin emptiness judgment Longing for eternity guilt loneliness alienation

  48. Present an Alternative Alternatives are philosophical choices which cover the emptiness and longing inside. Like a label on a jar, they hide the effects of prepared awareness from others, but the contents of the jar are troublesome.   49. Present an Alternative Professing to be wise, they became fools (Romans 1:22) … their foolish heart was darkened. (Romans 1:21) … and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man.
