  2. A Brief History of STM • The Taiwanese Journal for Philosophy and History of Science • Started in 1993 and ran for 10 issues • An English journal published by Yuan-liu (遠流) Publishing House • Fu, Daiwie 傅大為 was for sometime the editor-in-chief

  3. A Brief History of STM • In 1999 The Taiwanese Journal for Philosophy and History of Science was split in two journals (philosophy and STS). • The Taiwanese Journal for Studies of Science, Technology and Medicine(or the STM,科技‧醫療與社會)was founded in 2001.

  4. A Brief History of STM • STM: A bilingual journal for the interdisciplinary studies of science, technology and medicine from the Taiwanese or the East-Asian perspective • Published twice a year (April and October) by the National Science and Technology Museum (國立科學工藝博物館)

  5. A Brief History of STM • Special interests • how the Taiwanese and Chinese understand and control Nature • how they build their scientific, technological and medical systems

  6. A Brief History of STM • how Western systems of knowledge and practice have been transferred to Taiwan and China, and vice versa • and how the Taiwanese and Chinese deal with STM-related issues in their culturally and historically specific contexts • Yet related articles on other countries are also welcome

The constitution of the current editorial board • Historians and sociologists outnumber the others • In addition, we have scholars from the fields of philosophy of science, science education, social studies of risk, and public health • Nevertheless, the constitution doesn’t exactly represent the complicated and dynamic structure of the STS community in Taiwan
