The final statement should be compelling with an emotional angle. Facts, themes, impressions that represent the positive (opportunities) or negative (issues) topics facing a community. Draft by August 30, 2012. Foundation breakout session plus 1-2 additional development and refinement conference calls. Objective: Input Content: Timeline:

Workshop Input – Build the Foundation Sense of Urgency Ideas: July 26, 2012 Breakout Session-1 • Create common cause between rural and urban communities • Getting rid of us and them • Now—yes, we can do this • Build moral within companies from the bottom up—move the people in the middle up to get more at the bottom • The future our children will be living, working and playing in is being built today, who is building it. • Change “island in itself” mentality • Create high quality jobs, matching wages • We live in the State of IL • Lack of basic financial education for the majority of the population • Businesses have open jobs they cannot fill • Fix workforce to match jobs, businesses will leave • Attract young professionals or we don’t have a workforce • We need to get rid of the negative attitude and build on the positive attributes (build the army) • …poverty, crime, --need to clean up boarded up buildings, etc. • Who are we – we need to be able to “hang our hat” onto something—what is that something
