  2. What is Project Based Learning? • Project-based learning is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges. With this type of active and engaged learning, students are inspired to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying.

  3. What does it look like? • students learning knowledge to tackle realistic problems as they would be solved in the real world • increased student control over his or her learning • teachers serving as coaches and facilitators of inquiry and reflection • students (usually, but not always) working in pairs or groups

Tips for Successful Projects • Begin with the End in Mind • Make a Tough Topic Fun • Focus on Standards- but not too many • Start Small When You Are New • Test Drive the Final Product Before Starting the Project • Start your Project with an “Entry Event” • Keep Students in the Loop • Set Clear Deadlines but allow for some Flexibility • Create a Balanced Assessment Plan • Conclude Projects with a Bang!
