  2. Architectural Rendering Facts & Figures Temporary Location 2

  3. Why Portables? Facts & Figures • They will provide temporary classroom space because of the continued growth and desire to live in Castle Hills. • They allow Lewisville ISD to minimize the impact of the growing student population at Castle Hills Elementary. • During the 2013-2014 school year, Castle Hills Elementary served 789 students. • Castle Hills Elementary is projected to serve up to 832 students by the 2017-2018 school year. • Based on LISD’s demographics study, the population at Castle Hills Elementary will begin to decline by the 2019-2020 school year and will continue to decline with a projected enrollment of 811 by 2020. • View LISD’s demographics study at www.lisd.net. 3

  4. How Many Portables? Facts & Figures • Four portable buildings, equivalent to eight classrooms, will be at Castle Hills Elementary beginning the 2014-2015 school year. • All Castle Hills Elementary students who take Spanish, MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach) and LEAP (Learning Enrichment Academic Program) will use the portable buildings. 4

  5. Where Will The Portables Be? Facts & Figures • The four portable buildings will be located on the northwest corner of Castle Hills Elementary, near the gym and playground. • This location was determined based on fire codes and other technical requirements. • The architectural rendering from slide two outlines the portable building location. 5

  6. Safety and Security Facts & Figures • Safety and security is a top priority for both Lewisville ISD and Castle Hills Elementary. • Safety and security protocols for the portable buildings will include: • Additional security cameras with a designated monitor in the Castle Hills Elementary front office, which can be viewed by office staff • Keyless entry where appropriate • Secured private fencing and landscaping (part of the proposed site plan) 6

  7. Portable Building Duration Facts & Figures • The portable buildings are temporary and will only be on-site at Castle Hills Elementary until they are no longer needed. • Overcrowding at Castle Hills Elementary is a short-term problem; therefore, the portable buildings are a temporary solution. 7

  8. Why Not Rezone? Facts & Figures • Rezoning Castle Hills Elementary to other Lewisville ISD schools that are below capacity and that will remain below capacity as predicted in the district’s demographics study was an option. • However, LISD and Principal Donna J. Taylor desired to have the Castle Hills Elementary School community remain together, as it is a better option for the community and the school, based on the demographics study. 8

  9. Meetings Facts & Figures • May 15: Lewisville ISD administrators met with Castle Hills Elementary PTA Board members and a representative from the Castle Hills HOA • Discussed portable building location, security and student safety; and aesthetic needs for the Castle Hills community • May 30: Follow-up meeting between LISD administrators and PTA Board members • Reviewed the proposed architectural rendering and site plan • June 11: Presentation by LISD to Castle Hills residents • Shared portable building plan • Bright Development was involved in all LISD discussions from the start. LISD submitted the proposed architectural rendering and site plan to Bright after the positive feedback received from meetings with Castle Hills Elementary PTA Board members and Castle Hills’ HOA. 9
