  1. The Disposable Infusion Pump Instruction Basal + PCA Bolus Model

  2. Characteristics The Disposable Infusion Pump is a safe, effective and durable micro injector for safe analgesia. It is driven by the balanced contraction of the medical silicone rubber reservoir, with the flow rate controlled by the Flow Rate Controlled Tubing. The pump is mainly used in the analgesia for all types of post-operative local pain including childbirth, in the therapy of chronic pains, in the analgesia for malicious tumor as well as some other therapies that involve the self-controlled micro injections.

  3. Material • The Disposable Infusion Pump contains a silicone rubber reservoir, together with PVC tubing, ABS tubing connector. (Warning: certain solution may be incompatible with the materials used in the Disposable Infusion Pump. Before use consult the instruction of the fluid or drug to be used.). • The Disposable Infusion Pump is assembled with a standard male luer, which can connect with standard infusion tubing.

  4. Specification (Basal + PCA Bolus Model)

  5. Usage: Before filling the reservoir • Pick out a pump from its packaging, confirm that a sliding clip is fitted on the button of PCA administration set. • Close the tubing with a clip. • Fill a syringe with a volume of solution to be placed in the reservoir.

  6. Usage: Filling the reservoir • Fill in the reservoir through the filter and check valve. After filling, remove the filter and close the check valve with a screw cap. • Although about 0.5ml air bubble will be remained in the reservoir after filling, the air bubble can be removed automaticlly through the silicone reservior in 1-2 hours, owing to the character of silicone rubber material.

  7. Usage: Quickly get rid of the air bubbles from the tubing • Remove the clip from tubing • Open the adding port • Fit a syringe to the filter and inject 1ml solution into the adding port to quickly eliminate the air bubbles from the tubing • Do not forget to close the adding port with the screw cap after the above operation.

  8. Usage: After filling Remove the sliding clip from the PCA administration set; Attention: This step is very important, please do not forget it. Otherwise, the PCA Bolus will be out of control. During the use, when a patient feel pain or discomfort, he can press the button of PCA administration set, and the pump will give the patient an additional dose of medication according to the PCA bolus rate.

  9. The male lure at the end of the tubing may connect with epidural catheter connector or other standard female lure. • Please ensure that no air bubble existing in the tubing before connecting catheter with the male lure. Attention: Keep the reservoir and the PCA ad-ministration set on the same level when the infusion pump starts working. Do not hang the reservoir on a higher place. Otherwise, the flow rate will be increased.

  10. Other function: Withdrawing function • When necessary, doctors can withdraw some solution from the reservoir with an extractor. • Fit the extractor to a syringe and keep that the joint is tight. Once the extractor is fitted to check valve, the solution will flow into the syringe immediately.

  11. Other function: Adding dosage function • Besides Basal infusion and the PCA bolus infusion, if the doctors want to give the patients extra or higher doses, they can inject the medication from the adding port. Attention: 1. Please keep on pressing the button of PCA administration set when injecting from the adding port, otherwise, the PCA administration set will be damaged. 2. Do not forget to use a filter when injecting 3. Do not forget to close the adding port with screw cap after injection.

  12. Attention • The infusion pump is sterilized by E.O. gas and it is valid for three years. Do not use after the expiration date. • Do not use if the packaging has been previously opened or damaged. Single use only. • Read the instruction carefully before use it. • When operating it an aseptic technique should be maintained. • Dilute the solution as required before filling it into the Reservoir. • Do not overfill the reservoir.

  13. The accuracy of flow rate control is within ± 10%. • The basal rate and the PCA bolus indicated on the packaging are determined basing on the concentration of 0.9% sodium chloride under standard room temperature. Owing to the different concentration of solution and temperature condition as well as other factors, the actual flow rate will be little different. Please try to use the pump under the temperature around 21-25°C. • The doctors should prescribe the dosage and use proper models of the infusion pump for different patients. • When patients feel pain or discomfort, please press the button of PCA administration set to manage additional doses. However, please don't press the button if they are feeling too sleepy.
