  3. Background • Lenin’s Russia is most easily understood through answering the following two question; • 1. Why did civil was break out in Russia after the October revolution and why did the Bolsheviks win? • 2. How did the Bolsheviks establish a single party in Russian between the years 1917 and 1924?

  4. Your task • The class will be divided in to two. • Each group will be assigned one of the questions on the previous slides • Each group will produce a Study Guide in answer to the question. This should be designed so that other students can use it to learn the material and to construct the next assignment – An Obituary of Lenin from a Western perspective. More details on this later.
