  1. Planning and progression Links to the resource • Effectively monitor and evaluate planning e.g. video evidence, self-evaluations, sports council • Leadership and Management is good when leaders: • Have effective ways of transferring information from KS2 to 3 e.g. pupil profiles, transition days, cross phase meetings, joint assessment days • Plans are implemented and monitored in a timely way and result in measurable improvements

  2. Planning and progression Links to the resource • Quality Physical Education planning allows learners to: • Build on what they have already achieved rather than starting from the beginning • Have opportunities to plan, develop and reflect upon physical skills • Be challenged and the challenge be raised year on year • Be an integral part of the planning • Make links across the areas of experience and other subjects

  3. Connected Learning PROFILING

  4. BACKGROUND • Initially set-up strong links with the ICT, PSE and Technology departments – e.g. (ICT/PE) • Previous focus was on sporting profiles and HFWB and we wanted to develop and extend this to others areas of the curriculum • Sporting profiles were embedded in the year 7 ICT and PE SoW and we wanted to amend this to include more detail and increase their impact by continuing this into year 8

  5. What did we do? • Changed the template for year 7 profiles - introduced Year 8 profile – (Example 1) • Pupils in year 7 are completing their profiles in ICT lessons (Example 1) (Example 2)and year 8 pupils are completing their profiles in PSE lessons – (Year 8) • Altered HFWB SoW to cover PSE content – (SOW)

  6. Sports Council • Year 8 • Peer Mentors • Looked at the National Curriculum for six subjects – (posters) (SoW)

  7. Impact • Much more awareness and understanding of links between subjects – staff and pupils “pupils speak with ease about the benefits of developing good communication skills in their PE lessons and how good speaking and listening helps them to improve their physical skills” • Quality of pupils’ work has improved • Pupils are keen to continue to be ‘peer mentors’ • Pupils’ enthusiasm for the lessons has improved • Staff in other curriculum areas are more enthusiastic about PE

  8. What next? • Posters - next phase is to include remaining departments • Extend and develop this across the key stage • Sporting profiles will be extended into Year 9 – English Communication Level 2

  9. Planning and progression the resource

  10. “ Quality Physical Education planning should ensure that learners develop a wide range of skills that allow them to progress and have confidence in tackling increasingly more technical and demanding tasks”
