Our mission Our mission is to promote regional growth issues and create favourable conditions for regional development in Värmland We strive to make Värmland an attractive region where businesses want to establish themselves, operate and develop Our task is to ensure that the residents of Värmland are able to live a good life, now and in the future

The assignment includes: Coordinating the formulation of regional development strategies for all of Värmland Making decisions on state and regional funds for regional development and growth Preparing and co-financing cases for the EU’s structural funds Drawing up a county transport plan Working for a sustainable skills supply Developing regional culture (cultural plans) Developing public transportation in Värmland Developing regional folk high schools Coordinating profile and marketing work

Activities include: Regional Growth Unit Culture & Education Unit (dance, film, handicrafts, county library, Värmland Archives) Member Support Unit (healthcare and welfare, courses and conferences) Public Transportation Unit Folk High Schools: Ingesund Folk High School Music and entrepreneurship Klarälvdalen Folk High School Game, nature conservation, rural affairs Kristinehamn Folk High School Groups with special needs Kyrkerud Folk High School Aesthetic profile Molkom Folk High School Media, health & fitness

  9. Financing • Budget approx. 1.1 billion SEK per year, of which 700 million is allocated to public transportation • Main financiers: • Värmland County Council • Värmland’s 16 municipalities • The Swedish State • The EU • Fees

Shifting up regional funding The EU Structural Funds are among the most important financial instruments for stimulating regional growth The Structural Funds provide some extra power and resources for carrying through important projects Having many players involved in implementing EU projects will lead to greater cooperation in Värmland The funds contribute to a certain cohesion between EU regional policy and our priorities New funds period 2014-2020
