  2. Course outline • The ALCDSB outline is available on the teacher page (S. Murray) • Units of Study include: • Unit 1: Medical Technology • Unit 2: Pathogens and Disease • Unit 3: Nutritional Science • Unit 4: Science and Public Health • Unit 5: Biotechnology

  3. Course Expectations • You come to class: • Prepared • Punctual (ON TIME) • Proper uniform • You take responsibility for your learning and access the teacher page regularly (missing class is not a viable excuse for incomplete work) • Seek extra help when you need it (always available for lunch time help –room 227 or 212)

Course calendar has important dates for tests etc as well “Snow days”  Check teacher page for work or changes in test dates

  6. Assessment • Each unit will consist of assignments/projects/labs and a unit test • Term work and unit tests = 70% • Final exam and culminating assignment = 30% • Late penalties apply for assignments handed in past a set deadline – so hand them in on time!

  7. The most important course expectation: • Become interested in Science - if by chance you weren’t already  • Some great learning opportunities include: • Diagnosing illnesses • Measuring blood pressure and heart rate • Measuring lung capacity • Researching careers in health science • Virtual knee replacement surgery • And many more……
