Abstract This presentation provides an overview of 5 key challenges that engineers face when stepping into a leadership role and keys to success in meeting those challenges. Biographies Jamie Millard Jamie Millard has been actively involved in developing leaders for over 25 years as a business leader, executive coach, group facilitator, trainer, presenter and leadership consultant. Jamie is well known for his extensive experience in designing, developing, and facilitating innovative, experiential leadership development programs that are highly tailored to a client’s specific business context. His primary focus is to develop leaders who can learn and apply proven leadership competencies to achieve tangible, challenging business outcomes. Jamie holds an engineering degree from the US Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. Gus Murby Gus Murby has over 23 years of experience as a management consultant working with clients in the areas of organizational change management; leadership and management development; and project/program management. Gus has served clients in a variety of roles – as an advisor, program facilitator, coach, and shadow program manager. Gus’s focus in these roles has been on providing practical applications of core leadership and management concepts to successfully bring about improvement in the performance of individual leaders and their organizations. Gus holds an engineering degree from the US Military Academy at West Point and a Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Lexington Leadership Both Jamie and Gus are co-founders and Executive Partners of Lexington Leadership Partners, LLC, a leadership consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations focus and develop their leadership capability and capacity; helping team leaders effectively lead project teams to success; and coaching individual leaders to enhance their competence and results. Jamie and Gus have both developed thousands of leaders in North America, Europe, Asia and South America, including engineering and manufacturing leaders from organizations such as ALCOA Automotive, ALSTOM, ARCO Chemical Corporation, Bayer, Charles Stark Draper Laboratories, Digital, Ford, GE, IBM,, Kodak, Macronix, National Starch & Chemical, Ohmeda, Pfizer, Raytheon, Rockwell Collins, Rohm & Haas, Schering Plough, Simon Engineering, and the U.S. Navy.
