  1. Financial Ave Course Evaluations Longitudinal Study August 2012

  2. Demographics The following report will provide an overview of students completing Financial Ave Courses. We will show the pre and post test knowledge gain and how the students evaluate the courses they completed. • Inceptia offers six (6) courses within the Financial Ave program. As of August 2012 and total of n = 7,029 courses have been completed. Shown below is a break out of the number of completions by course. • Budgeting – 1,535 students • Identify Theft – 1,326 students • Credit Cards – 1,307students • Contracts – 1,272 students • Credit History – 1,241 students • Paying for College – 348 students Confidential.

  3. Knowledge Gain Students who complete Financial Ave courses are required to take a pre test and a post test. Knowledge Gain is defined as the change in score between the pre and post tests. Confidential.

  4. Knowledge Gain Results! The table shows the average (mean) pre and post test scores and the average percent of increase in knowledge score. Confidential.

  5. Pre and Post Test Scores The graph shows the distribution of pre and post test scores converted to a standardized grading scale. On the post test none of the students got a D or an F! Confidential.

  6. Knowledge Gain Ten percent (10%) of the students scored lower on the post test and 5% had no change in score. However, 28% had more than a 50% gain in knowledge with 8% increasing their scores by over 100%. The overall average knowledge gain (mean) was a positive 40%! Confidential.

  7. Course Evaluations Starting in 2011, students completing courses were asked to complete a formal evaluation of the course in addition to the pre and post tests. To date, a total of n = 1,319 course evaluations have been done. Confidential.

  8. Interest in the Subject Q. Please evaluate the course based on how much it - increased your interest in the subject. 54% of the students indicated that the course increased their interest in the subject. The average (mean score) for this item is 3.50 on a 5 point scale. Since most of the students were required to take these courses, this is a very positive overall evaluation. Confidential.

  9. Information on the Subject Q. Please evaluate the course based on how much it - provided information to sufficiently cover the topic. 68% of the students indicated that the course covered the topic well. The overall mean score was 3.77. Confidential.

  10. Knowledge about the Subject Q. Please evaluate the course based on how much it - increased your knowledge in the subject. 66% of the students felt that the course increased their knowledge of the subject. Only 9% indicated that they did not increase their knowledge overall. The overall mean score was 3.74. Confidential.

  11. Confidence about the Topic Q. Please evaluate the course based on how much it - helped you feel more confident about the topic. 65% of the students indicated that the course helped them feel more confident in dealing with the topic. The overall mean score was 3.70. Confidential.

  12. Recommendation of the Courses Q. I would recommend this course to others. The chart shows the ranking of courses based on how likely the students would be to recommend them to others. 5 = Strongly agree, 4 = Agree, 3 = Neutral, 2 = Disagree, 1 = Strongly disagree Confidential.
