  1. Bioversity workplans, 2013-2014 Bilateral in ESA (IFAD-funded Phase 2 of the SSA-CP) 1. Focus is on: Use of innovation platforms in testing IAR4D; vegetables for diversification, income and nutrition; and creating and fostering market linkages. iv. Thyolo & Zomba districts (in Southern Malawi) and Mulanje district (in northern Mozambique) where some study villages are within the Chinyanja triangle (together with Phalombe district outside the Chinyanja Triangle). Villages and coordinates provided to ILRI Focal person for ESA. 2. This research comes under SRT3 of the Dryland Systems ---‘Diversification and Sustainable Intensification of Production Systems’. 3. Opportunities for working with IWMI on irrigation & other CG Centres leading SSA-CP Task Forces in ZMM operating in the Chinyanja Triangle villages.

  2. Bioversity workplans, 2013-2014 Across system CRPs and regions Agrobiodiversity baseline surveys 1. Due to funding constraints, focus in Africa is on West Africa Dry Savanna. 2. Would like to contribute issues and ideas on agrobiodiversity assessments to planned characterization work in Chinyanja Triangle. [opportunities for collaboration with ILRI, ICRISAT, ICRAF, CIAT, CIP and IWMI] 3. Assessment of available agrobiodiversity resources, contributions to system and livelihoods of households dependent on each system, identifying entry points or opportunities for using agrobiodiversity to improve system and livelihoods.
