  1. 6 Examples of Virtual Teams

  2. “A virtual team is a group of workers who use digital tools to communicate and collaborate. While virtual teams can be based in the same physical space, they are frequently dispersed, working from different parts of the city, state, country, or even the world!” Virtual teams aren't all the same. There are several types, depending on the team members' ages, objectives, goals, and roles. Some of them will follow suit.

  3. Networked Teams • A networked team is made up of cross-functional team members who are brought together based on their expertise and experience with a particular issue. New members can join the team as needed, and those who have already joined are removed once their roles have been completed.

  4. Parallel Teams • A second team, from the same company, is tasked with developing recommendations for a process or system. They are usually only together for a short period of time, with all members remaining on board until their assigned goal is met.

  5. Product Development Teams • A product development team is a group of people who have been brought together because they are skilled at achieving a specific goal. The members of this team are assigned clearly defined roles and work independently, with their combined efforts achieving the end goal. While not always a virtual team, it becomes one when the experts are located in different states or countries.

  7. Management Teams • A management team is a group of managers who work for the same company. They may work together under one roof, but if they work in different locations, they form a virtual team. Management teams collaborate to develop corporate strategies based on the goals and objectives of the organisation.

  8. Action Teams • An action team is formed for a limited time and is tasked with responding to a pressing issue. The team is disbanded once the problem has been solved. An action team, like the previous example, is not entirely virtual. However, as people become more comfortable working with virtual teams, their use expands beyond what it was previously.
