  2. Definition: • Structure words found before a noun phrase (np)

  3. Simple Prepositions • For example: • About, around, as, between, for, except, through

  4. For example: • Goofy is in the water. • in= preposition • The water=np

  5. Adjective prepositional phrase: • Prepositional phrase that modifies nouns or pronouns

  6. For Example: • Stewie is on the box. • On=preposition • The box=np

  7. Adverb Prepositional Phrase: • Prepositional phrase that modifies verbs, adjectives, or adverbs.

  8. For Example: • Stewie is playing the banjo on the box. • On=preposition • Playing the banjo=vp

  9. Not to be confused with… • Verb phrases: • Dress up, turn out, shut off, etc.

  10. Adverb phrase or adjective phrase? • The book is on the table in the computer lab. • Dr. Dornan teaches at MSU.
