Twinning projects • Azerbaijan – Twinning project implemented by Germany/Bulgaria, a presentation under this agenda point by the implementing NSI • Ukraine – Twinning Light implemented by Denmark/Latvia - started in January 2010, for six months - press conference held in February 2010 - covers three components • Ukraine – preparation for a full Twinning project under way • Member States encouraged to share experience Statistical Cooperation with ENP East Countries: Current Situation

  4. High-Level seminar for the Russian-speaking countries • 28-30 September 2010, Cologne, Germany, logistics organised by the contractor (ICON) • Title: Coordination of the national statistical systems • Topics to be covered: coordination inside the NSI, coordination of other data producers, data confidentiality, use of administrative data • Member States are invited to share their national experience Statistical Cooperation with ENP East Countries: Current Situation

Adapted Global Assessments • Armenia – conducted in 2009, the final reports is available • Azerbaijan – planned for mid-June 2010, report will be available in the autumn • Ukraine – sent a request to host an AGA in September 2011 • Moldova – sent a request to host an AGA as soon as possible • Belarus – sent a request to host an AGA in 2012 • AGAs are organised under contact with ICON, core team consists of two experts, in addition to Eurostat, the EFTA and UN Statistical Division are invited to participate in the assessing team Statistical Cooperation with ENP East Countries: Current Situation

  6. Association Agreements • Combined with the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreements (DCFTA). Offered to all countries provided that they are ready to negotiate the AA and DCFTA together and they comply with the requirements; Member States are consulted • The AA chapter on statistics is accompanied by a legal annex containing the acquis • Ukraine – the AA chapter on statistics provisionally closed • Moldova – the AA negotiations on the chapter on statistics on 9 March 2010 • In the nearest future the AA negotiations will start with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia Statistical Cooperation with ENP East Countries: Current Situation

The Sub-Committees • Sub-Committees are organised bilaterally with the ENP countries to address major issues and to achieve progress in the alignment with the acquis in various areas (customs, fighting corruption, financial control over public finances, etc). Organised by DG External Relations • Depending on the country, statistics is, as a rule, tackled under two sub-committees: (1) The Sub-Committee on Economic, Financial and Statistical Issues and (2) The Subcommittee on Trade, Economic and Related Legal Issues • Eurostat representatives participated in selected meetings of those Sub-Committees for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia • In the nearest future DG External Relations plans to a series of meetings involving statistics for Georgia (29 April, Tbilisi), Armenia (9 June, Brussels) and Azerbaijan (29 June, Brussels) Statistical Cooperation with ENP East Countries: Current Situation
