  9. Name Hour The Things I Carry Through Tim O’Brien’s description, we learn what these men carried with them in Vietnam was a direct reflection on who they were and what they valued. For example, Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letters from an unattainable girl. He also carried an unyielding passion and yearning for her. He often loses himself in his fantasies. His priorities are vividly described which reveals a great deal about the character of the man. On a current day level, we carry things with us everyday: in backpacks, purses, wallets, lockers, and cars. We also carry dreams, hopes, concerns, and emotions with us. In a one-page journal, write about what you “carry” each day. What do these things tell about who you are as a person?
