  2. David Livingston • A Pioneer Scottish Missionary • Remembered for spreading the Gospel and Exploration of Africa. • A brave and courageous adventurer who made several missionary trips to Africa. • Reformer and anti-slavery crusader • “Disappeared” for a while, and eventually died in Africa.

  3. William Carey • An English Baptist Missionary to India • Known as the “father of modern missions” • Used his many gifts– in science, natural history and social sciences to reach people in India. • While he opened the stores of Indian literature to the Western World. • Translated the Bible into many Indian languages • Also translated the Hindu classic “Ramayana” into English …giving the first insight of Indian mythology and religion to the West.

  4. Amy Carmichael • An Irish Missionary. • Worked initially in Japan and China. • Came to India at the young age of 28. • Spent the next 53 years in India – never returning home - and died in India. • Worked with orphans and young girls rescued from temple prostitution in India. • Encountered much hardship and opposition in her work

Ross & Tricia Brown • Worked as Missionaries in Zambia • Arrived as singles – and 19 years later (for Tricia) departed for Australia, married with two african-ised children. • …… • The verse they take encouragement from in ministry is: • 2 Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

RHYANNAH TORRANCE • Recently went on a Short Mission trip with a group of Bible college students to Indonesia • Hopping across islands and living in villages • Spent time with communities learning from them and sharing life with them • Sharing stories, testimonies and doing discovery Bible studies
