  2. The theory states that we are all a piece of Swiss Cheese. The holes in our cheese represent “NEEDS” that we must get met regularly.

  3. “SWISS CHEESE NEEDS” These “needs” can be physicalsuch as food, water, clothing, shelter, sleep, air, exercise, relaxation, etc…. These “needs” can besocialsuch as family, friendship, dating, belonging, touch, accepted, trusted, bonded, etc…. These “needs” can be emotionalsuch as competent, loved, liked, secure, admired, happiness, respect, successful, etc….

  4. “SWISS CHEESE NEEDS” These “needs” can be intellectual such as knowledge, applied skills, technology, reading, research etc… These “needs” can be school/career such as success, validation, future, interpersonal skills, resources, etc… These “needs” can be environmental such as reusing, recycling, maintaining, cleaning, organizing, etc… These “needs” can be spiritualsuch as religion, meditation, attitude, purpose, beliefs, faith, etc…

  5. Many teens don’t understand the “Swiss cheese Theory”. So, they get there needs met in unhealthy ways like:

  7. Unhealthy ways continued….

  8. Teens who understand and know how to get their needs met in healthy ways grow up to be more: • HAPPY • HEALTHY • SUCCESSFUL
