  2. Camfecting • Computer webcam viruses is called Camfecting. • Camfecting- attempting (or succeeding) to access someone’s webcam and control it without them knowing. Examples: start recordings or taking pictures. • Your computer can become diagnosed by clicking on an application your hacker sent you, better known as a Trojan Horse. This is when you use your better judgment to determine if it’s too good to be true. • Camfecting Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camfecting

  3. PoisonIvy • Occurred in 2005. • Allowed the attacker to control the computer that was hacked, “undercover.” • Hacker can do anything they want when using your computer from another device. Examples: Controlling your webcam and speakers, accessing your files, changing settings, downloading music, etc. • PoisonIvy Source: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/Top-Ten-Most-Destructive-Computer-Viruses.html?c=y&page=1

  4. Back Orifice • In the 1990’s a program by Cult of the Dead Cow was published called Back Orifice. • Not only could it control webcams, but also open up CD-ROM doors. • Back Orifice did not spread on it’s own.

  5. Rbot • Rbot is another computer webcam virus. • This can also allow the hacker to control the webcam and audio, but also type things. • Rbot is an “offspring” from Back Orifice, meaning it could be very serious. • Unlike Back Orifice, Rbotspread on its own. • Rbot and Back Orifice Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5799432/ns/technology_and_science-security/t/new-computer-virus-voyeurs/

  6. RevetonRansomware • Fake FBI message. • The hacker uses a fake FBI message telling the owner that their computer could be involved in criminal activity. The message suggests the user to pay a fine using a prepaid credit card, which then allows the hacker to use your computer. • It is designed to take your money and shows live footage of anything going on in front of your webcam. • RevetonRansomware Source: http://www.wbir.com/news/article/237219/2/Computer-virus-that-activates-webcam-spreads-finds-East-Tennessee-victims
