  1. Emperor YongleThird Ming emperor – 1403 to 1424. Yongle was the most vigorous of the early Ming Dynasty emperors. Among his accomplishments were moving the capital to Beijing and the primary construction of the Forbidden City, commissioning an encyclopedia of 11,000 volumes, naval expeditions ranging as far as Africa, and the repair of the Grand Canal. He made the examination system for Confucian Scholars more rigorous. The greatest accomplishments of Ming China are largely associated with the YongleEmperor.
