  2. What is a Tornado? • A tornado is defined as an intense, rotating column of air extending from the base of a thunderstorm cloud to the ground.

  3. Classification of Tornadoes on the Fujita Scale • F0 - Light damage. Winds up to 72 mph. • F1 - Moderate damage. Winds 73 - 112 mph. • F2 - Considerable damage. Winds 113 - 157 mph. • F3 - Severe damage. Winds 158 - 206 mph. • F4 - Devastating damage. Winds 207 - 260 mph. • F5 - Incredible damage. Winds above 261 mph.

  6. Tornado Preparedness • Tune in your television or radio for local weather information and updates.

  7. Seek shelter immediately. Seek center of structure, i.e. hallway, closet, bathroom. Cover self with pillows, blankets or other soft coverings. Keep a flashlight and batteries on hand. Have a first-aid kit available. Keep bottled water and cans goods on hand. Tornado Preparedness Continued . . .
