  3. 2. During the Spanish Colonial period from the 16th-19th century, Spanish Jews moved to Argentina secretly while the country was still under Spanish rule. Western European Jews started to move to the country in the mid 19th century. Then Eastern European Jews and Russians moved to Argentina in the late 19th century escaping poverty and pogroms. Between 1906 and 1912, 13000 Jews moved there every year, mostly from Europe and Morocco and Turkey.

  5. 6. Cultivation of sunflowers was introduced to Argentina by the Jews of the Mauricio colony. In Buenos Aires is the only kosher McDonalds outside of Israel. Argentina has the 6th largest Jewish population in the world.
