  1. What is a forensic investigation? A forensic investigation is a system of establishing lawfully the facts and evidence that are to be presented before the judge in a court of law. This term is used for almost all investigations, varying from cases of financial fraud to abduction, murder, etc. When people think about forensics, they picture a crime scene investigation in which physical evidence is collected. However, there are other forms of forensic investigation such as computer forensic investigationand sub-fields that fixate on dentistry or insects and crime scenes. It is a rapidly growing division of forensics that includes digital or computer investigations. Computer forensic investigations is a branch of science that consists of legal evidence gathered in digital storage mediums and computers. This area of forensic investigation has subdivisions such as firewall investigations, mobile or portable device forensics and database forensics. Crime Scene Forensic Investigationis a type of forensic investigation that revolves around violent and malicious crimes. Forensics used in these investigations tend to unveil scientific evidence that gives sufficient proof or evidence to convict a criminal. These procedures can also help in disproving outdated evidence that may otherwise result in the release of someone who was wrongly convicted earlier. There are a few other subdivisions of forensic investigations that are used for gathering evidence. Computer Forensics Investigators who specialize in entomology conduct tests of insects near or on human remains. This helps in establishing the time and location of the crime. Other than this, there is also forensic odontology that means the investigation of teeth or dentition which is essential to identify the remains of the victim.
