Evolution of Screening Initiative Federal Center for Mental Health Services and National Technical Assistance Center for Children’s Mental Health selected Indiana to participate in the: Policy Academy on Developing Systems of Care (SOC) for Children with Mental Health Needs and Their Families 12-2003 Participants: FSSA Medicaid Federation of Families DFC State Budget Agency Juvenile Justice DMHA DOC DOE Produced plan to address Process Improvement Plan (PIP) for Child Services Family Review (CSFR) through Mental HealthScreening of Children Entering Child Welfare System Cross System Team oversees Screen Initiative/meet monthly Composed of Members of Policy Academy, Medicaid, & ISDH Assessment Committee charged with recommendation of cross system assessment process (30 members selected) Pilot screen July – Oct. 2004 (8 counties). Full implementation Jan. 2005 Funding for Project Director, data collection, evaluation through Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (4-2004 to present) Implementation Evaluation Child & Adolescent Needs & Strengths (CANS) recommended Reporting Training Pioneering Data Sharing Project between OMPP, DCS, DMHA Training of DCS FCM & Supervisors re. Screening (2004) Early Childhood Mental Health Training of child welfare staff, foster care parents and mental health providers by Infant & Toddlers Mental Health Assn. Quarterly Stakeholders Meetings (to report out & seek input) (Oct. 2004, Jan. 2005, Mar. 2005, June 2005, Sept. 2005, Dec. 2005, Jan. 31, 2006) & ongoing Dr. Eric Wright conducts evaluation of Initiative 529 team accepts recommendations and includes in its report to legislature
