  2. Welcome to Walkathon 2013! • Who: SHA Community • What: SHA Fundraiser • Where: 3.5 mile route around Amherst • When: Friday October 11th • Why: Bring us together as a community, support our school and various charitable organizations, and have a great time. 

What is this money for??? • Fund class treasuries • Raise additional funds for SHA that offset the cost of your tuition, running the school, equipment, etc. • Allow you, the students, to develop ideas for how to contribute your hard-earned money to projects and causes that mean something to you by writing grant proposals. • For example, past charity contributions went to:

  5. Grant Request Form for underclassmen and seniors Both documents can be found on Mrs. Kenny’s teacher page Deadlines*: January and April 2014 (*subject to change)

  6. Collecting Pledges • Every Student is responsible for raising $125. • Pledge turn in days will begin this Monday September 23th. • Turn pledges into Walkathon committee before school ONLY, outside the main office. • Pledges need to be sealed in an envelope with: • Your name, homeroom #, and grade • The amount enclosed

  7. Pledge Forms • Pledge forms are available: • on Mrs. Kenny’s teacher page • the Main Office • At the turn-in tables on collection days

  8. Business/Corporate Donations • Do you know someone who owns a business? (Parent(s), family, friends?) Ask them to advertise and support our walkathon! • If you have a business that expects to have a logo on any printed materials, they must have monies and logos in by next week at the latest! • Yes, they count towards your fundraising goal! • Forms available on Mrs. Kenny’s web page.

  9. Business/Corporate Donations • We are also accepting prizes from businesses to award to top fundraisers!

  10. Dress Down Days • Those who have met their minimum goal will be allowed to dress down the following day. • Students will not be allowed to dress down if they have not turned in their money the day before.

  11. Remember… • You cannot dress down the day you turn in the money. You can dress down the day after. • After each collection day, all faculty will get an updated list of whom is eligible to dress down. • A DUC sheet will be written if you are illegally out of uniform.

  12. Feast of St. Francis • On Friday October 4th, our community celebrates the Feast of St. Francis • Only day from everyone MUST be in uniform and wearing maroon

  13. Prizes!! • Dress Down Day – after $125 • Individual Prizes for the “Top Ten” Students: • 1st Prize - $100 + 2 tickets to the Christmas dance • 2nd Prize - $75 + 2 tickets to the Christmas dance • 3rd Prize - $50 + 2 tickets to the Christmas dance • 4th Prize - 2 tickets to the Christmas dance • 5th Prize - 2 tickets to the Christmas dance • 6th -10th Prizes - 1 free ticket to the Christmas dance

  14. Additional Prizes • For all those who have raised $150 or more, their names will be entered to win many fabulous prizes! (i.e. gift cards, etc.) • We will award these prizes at an assembly after the Walkathon is over and all monies are collected.

  15. Limousine Lunch! • For all those who have raised $500 or more, there will be a limousine lunch for you on a date to be announced…

  16. Senior Parking Spaces • Seniors who raise $300 or more will be given their very own parking space!

  17. Costume/Theme Day • Wednesday October 9this our theme day! • Each class will dress up from a different secret “family theme” of your class officers’ choosing that relates to your class color • Seniors • Juniors • Sophomores • Freshwomen

  18. Class Crest Class officers will be leading you in designing a family crest (coat of arms) to represent your class. Flags are due to Mrs. Kenny by Thursday October 10th, and will be processed in at the beginning of the Walkathon Prayer Service.

  19. Walkathon Day • The day begins with an extended homeroom and prayer service in the Aud, followed by the dismissal of classes. • We will walk with our classes along a 3.5 mile route around Amherst, wearing our class color t-shirts. • After the walk, students will return to school for a fun-filled day. There will be music and Kan Jam in the Gym, and lots of yummy food out on the back lawn! • Dismissal will be at 11:45 A.M.

  20. Reaching Our Goal • We hit over 105% of our goal last year, let’s do it again! • If we can meet our $125/student goal, we will have an extra day off during Thanksgiving Break! Wouldn’t you like to start back to school on Tuesday, November 26th, when all your friends at other schools have to go back on the 25th???
