College/Military Applications • Start immediately senior year (or sooner) • E-transcript link on KHS homepage • College Admissions/Ranking system • Military (ASVAB Test): Enlisted, ROTC, Academy • NWTC has a three day application window for high demand programs in the Health Field (Beginning of September) • Early Application deadlines/The Common App. • Some programs apply as Juniors

Financial Aid • Overview of FREE FAFSA through the SAR Report (make sure .GOV) • Parent must fill out for student to be eligible for any financial aid. • You can estimate EFC right now through the link on the Counseling Website. • TIP – State Funded Program • Senior Parent/Financial Aid Night (January) • Loans/Grants (free money)/Scholarships

Tips • APPLY as early in the Fall as possible. • ON-LINE is the fastest way (counselor page now accompanies e-transcript). • FREE: Bay, Ferris and MTU waive the application fees if you apply on-line. Look for this in other colleges as well. • LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Get them now and save them in the Counseling Office. • More selective schools: Make sure you send ACT scores directly from ACT (UWGB/U of M/MSU etc).

  12. CAMPUS VISITS: make sure you arrange to meet with a counselor as well. • FYI – School policy allows for a limited number of pre-arranged absences (to visit a college campus). College’s are aware of the importance of school attendance and gladly arrange weekend visits and tours. • Those interested in apprenticeships, legwork must be done in the beginning of the year to meet application deadlines.
