MPPG Multidisciplinary Program Planning Group Vision: Enable plenary and technical programming reflective of the evolving multidisciplinary approach to advanced chemical research Mission:Provide the infrastructure that enables national meeting programming groups to develop collaborative thematic programs and to explore alternative meeting formats American Chemical Society

  2. What is MPPG? • Group composed of representatives of all divisions, plus the committees most impacted by multidisciplinary programming: DAC, ComSci, M&E. • Representatives appointed to MPPG by division – committee leadership • Executive committee composed of present and past chairs and chair elect, as well as sub-committee chairs of MPPG.

  3. Roles and Responsibilities of MPPG Representatives • Drives the selection of National Meeting themes • Decides on specific theme organizers with input from divisions, members, and experts in the thematic field • Key communication link to respective division - committee

  4. Roles and Responsibilities of the MPPG ExComm • Creates the timeline for meetings, with theme selection to occur at least 24 months prior to meeting • Oversees development of the program to ensure progress • Initiates communication with divisions, members, and governance • Manages the selection of Kavli Emerging Lecturer for each national meeting

  5. How does MPPG operate? • Meets Saturday prior to each National meeting • Division chairs will appoint members and substitutes from divisions will be allowed • Operates as a DAC subcommittee • Identifies future themes and theme organizers from the Society and beyond • Collaborates with the ACS President-elect to encourage theme continuity with presidential programming

  6. Value to divisions • Opportunity to influence National Meetings • Greater voice – visibility of division at the National Meeting • Cross divisional collaboration opportunities for members

  7. MPPG is your Committee! • Participation in MPPG provides an avenue to influence future programming to the benefit of your membership. • Have your MPPG representative bring your Division’s ideas for future themes to the MPPG General Meeting
