  4. What is “HiQ”? • HiQ is an online educator inventory system • HiQ is a database • HiQ is found in the Professional Standards Commission’s portal, www.gapsc.org

  5. What is “HiQ”? • HiQ is an online educator inventory system... • …to assist school systems • …to determine if an educator meets the Federal definition of “highly qualified” when placed in a particular teaching assignment • …and to gather data to report to USDOE, to use for AYP, etc.

  6. What is “HiQ”? • HiQ is a database • Updated annually by combining the DOE’s Fall CPI data collection and the PSC’s Certification Information System (CIS) • Subjected to a manual edit cycle • Automatically updated from the Certification Information System (CIS)

  7. What is “HiQ”? • HiQ is found on the Professional Standards Commission’s portal, www.gapsc.org • …accessible to authorized account holders • …”rights” are edit or view-only • …”scope” can be building-only, system-only, RESA-wide, or State-wide

  9. “Highly Qualified?” • Bare-bones Definition of “Highly Qualified” • A “highly qualified” educator has “documentable” knowledge of the subject area content when teaching a “core” subject. • Core Subjects • English, Reading, Math, Science, Civics and Government, History, Geography, Economics, Art, Foreign Language, “Early Childhood” • (In Georgia “Art” is Chorus, Music, and Visual Arts)

HiQ Detail Summary • Name (SSN) • HiQ status for each teaching assignment • Subject, job and part-of-day can be edited • Some assertions can be made (terminated, HOUSSE, possible error, etc.) • If subject/job codes are ambiguous , a list of possible code “edits” • If not highly qualified, a list of certificates/tests needed to be considered highly qualified • Certificates currently held • Tests passed
