  14. Important Information

  15. IMPORTANT INFORMATION – DARK DAY - SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2018 What is a Dark Day?  The San Diego Convention Center will be closed on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Exhibitors will not be allowed into the Exhibit Hall unless they have EAC labor scheduled for any booth over 2,500 NSF or larger and must be pre-approved by CEDIA Expo Show Management by July 16, 2018.  No exhibitor booth personnel will be permitted on the show floor to access booth on Sunday.  Marshalling Yard will be closed on Sunday, September 2, 2018. No shipments will be allowed to come direct to show site on Sunday, September 2, 2018.  Onsite orders will not be fulfilled or provided on Sunday, 9/2. All orders should be placed in advance.  For additional information, please contact Kevin Belanger with Shepard at (678) 410-5565 or kbelanger@shepardes.com. Exhibitor’s received the above information via e-mail and this material is included in the Exhibitor Manual and on the Shepard website

  16. IMPORTANT INFORMATION – DARK DAY - SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2018 Why is this being implemented? What you should do to plan ahead:  This decision was based upon our assessment of the minimal move-in activity at the 2017 event which was a considerable expense to exhibitors, show management, facility and our vendors. With this change, we are confident there is adequate move-in time (6 days without Sunday) for booth set-up/installation which is a sufficient amount of time based on the size and scope of this show. The dark day is being instituted to better manage costs for our exhibitors and run a more efficient move-in process.  Ensure all of your orders are placed in advance  Plan to have your shipments arrive prior to Sunday, 9/2 or after Sunday, 9/2  Inform your Exhibitor Appointed Contractors of this new change and plan staffing accordingly

  37. LABOR RULES AND REGULATIONS California is NOT a “right‐ ‐to‐ ‐work” state. The installation and dismantling of prefabricated displays comes under the jurisdiction of the Painters Decorators Union. Union Labor is available to assist in the installation and dismantling of exhibit booths. However, one (1) full‐ ‐time exhibiting company employee may work without tools for thirty (30) minutes on the installation (move‐ ‐ in) and thirty minutes (30) on the dismantle (move‐ ‐out) without union labor. Exhibitors are not permitted to use tools of any type (screwdrivers, hammers, electric drills, power saws, etc.) on booths of any size. Exhibitors may handle and set out the products they manufacture; however, all background materials – display boards, back drops, stands – anything products are displayed upon, attached to or made part of and laying of floor tile and carpets must be installed by union labor. If union labor is needed, exhibitor personnel may work alongside of the union on a one to one basis. Exhibit labor, freight and rigging labor, electricians, and plumbers can be arranged for at established rates, using the order forms in this manual. The Teamsters have jurisdiction over all unloading and reloading of materials. The union also has jurisdiction over the operation of all material handling equipment –this includes all dollies and hand trucks. Exhibitors may carry only what 1 person can manage in one trip, using no equipment. No hand carried items may come through the loading dock. Current union jurisdiction precludes hotel personnel from delivering material to exhibit booths. Please note that tipping union personnel is prohibited.

  38. HELPFUL TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR LABOR • Booth Installation and Dismantling Labor - Use authorized contractor labor, whether it be Shepard or an EAC (Exhibitor Appointed Contractor). If you are unsure, contact the Operations team at Nicole@cediaexpo.com • Exhibitors may install exhibits if… • one (1) full‐time exhibiting company employee may work without tools for thirty (30) minutes on the installation (move‐ in) and thirty minutes (30) on the dismantle (move‐out) without union labor • Exhibitors are not permitted to use tools of any type (screwdrivers, hammers, electric drills, power saws, etc.) on booths of any size. • If you do not meet the listed criteria, you should order labor in advance to avoid higher on site rates
