Overview of China National Grid • Recent effort of 863 research in HPCE and grids • 863-306 supported National HPCE from 1999 to 2000 • Key project (more than 50 million) • Outcome • Dawning 3000 super server • 9 HPCE sites on Cernet and CSTNet, forming the environment • about computing & data intensive applications • System software for National HPCE

Overview of China National Grid • Enabling resource sharing and cooperative works under the Internet environment • Providing the most powerful computing capability to research • Exploring new models and patterns of applications and services in the Internet • Promote China’s industry in high performance computers and grids • Training of talent people in grid

Major tasks of the project • Develop a testbed for the new information infrastructure—China National Grid (CNGrid) • About 11 grid sites across the country • Interconnected by available networks • Develop a 4TFlops high performance computer to equip grid sites • Develop a grid software to support grid applications and grid operation and management • Develop several application grids • Productive systems • Demonstrate the future grid applications
