  2. History of Treasure Chest Foundation • On February 15, 1993, 7 year-old Martin Kisel was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. • Martin’s mom Colleen M. Kisel, (founder and CEO of Treasure Chest Foundation) discovered that providing him with a small toy after each procedure resulted in a calming distraction from his pain.

  3. History Of Treasure Chest Organization • Because of her own experiences, Colleen was inspired to provide every child going through treatments with a toy. • In August of 1996 Collen was honored with a large donation from the Aramark Corporation launching the organization while turning a dream into reality.

  4. About Treasure Chest Foundation • Treasure Chest is a Non-profit charitable organization. • “Treasure Chest Foundation’s job isn’t to donate to kids and teens, its our promise that every child or teen in Illinois with cancer receives a present that will make them happy.” • There are 5 locations throughout Illinois. • 13% of funds are used for administrative purpose.

  5. Facts about Cancer • The causes of childhood cancers are largely unknown. • Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children. • Pediatric Cancer treatments can last up to 3 years. In some cases, the treatments may last an additional 2-3 years.

  6. The effects we could have on the Treasure Chest Donation • Colleen’s biggest challenge remains funding. She said, “Its easy to bring in toys, but hard to bring in money.” • Helping her with funding would enable the foundation to secure quality gifts for all those in need.

  7. The effects we could have on the Treasure Chest Donation • “The hope, dream and goal of the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation is to have a treasure chest in all pediatric oncology facilities in the nation. With your help and support, this dream will become reality.” IAJHSC COULD MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

  8. Dedicated to family friend, Mark McConnell • 1986-1999 • “If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.” -unknown

  9. Select: The Treasure Chest Organization This organization provides happiness to children facing life threatening challenges. Treasure Chest’s sole mission is to get a toy in the hands of every child or teen with cancer in Illinois. Mrs. Kisel said that they need help with funding, and WE could be that help! Selecting the Treasure Chest for the first time will be mutually beneficial. While helping them, we are one step closer to our leadership treasure.
