  2. Augment: • Augment- To make larger; enlarge in size, number, strength, or extent; increase. Explanation-This picture is showing augment because it is showing the number of coins increase.

  3. Belabor • Belabor- To explain, worry about, or work at (something) repeatedly or more than is necessary. Explanation- This picture is showing that the person over works the assignment. The directions say you do not have to show your work but they do anyway.

  4. Cajole • Cajole - to persuade (someone) by flattery or pleasing talk to do what one wants; wheedle; coax. Explanation- This picture is showing the girl standing by the dishwasher, handing the other girl a toy to get her to empty the dishwasher.

  5. Credulous • Credulous- willing to believe or trust too readily, especially without proper or adequate evidence; gullible. Explanation- This picture shows that the dog is gullible. The dog went for the treat while he is really going to be taken to the vet.

  6. Dissention • Dissention- a lack of agreement or harmony. Explanation- This is showing that the two girls do not get along together, or they always argue.

  7. Erudite • Erudite- Having or showing great knowledge or learning. Explanation- This is showing that the girl understands the problems very well.

  8. Furtive • Furtive- Attempting to avoid notice or attention, typically because of guilt or a belief that discovery would lead to trouble; secretive. Explanation- This picture is showing that the little girl had done something bad and she doesn’t want to be seen or get caught.

  9. Incoherent • Incoherent- Expressed in an incomprehensible or confusing way; unclear. Explanation- This is showing that the little girl does not understand the problems on the paper.

  10. Irascible • Irascible- Easily made angry. Explanation- It is showing that the smaller girl does not like being poked and got mad easy.

  11. Lament • Lament- A passionate expression of grief. Explanation- This picture shows lament, because she is showing grief over her stuff animal dying.

  12. Melancholy • Melancholy- (Noun) A deep, pensive, and long lasting sadness. (Adjective) sad, gloomy, or depressed. Explanation- Melancholy is used to describe something or someone who is showing the primary emotions of sadness or depression. In this picture, this boy (my brother) is expressing these emotions. Ordinarily, this is what a person who is described as showing this emotion would look like.

  13. Odious • Odious- (Adjective) Extremely unpleasant, repulsive. Explanation- This is a picture of a dumpster behind my local grocery store. When thought of, a dumpster is considered to be very odious due to the trash it contains within it.

  14. Premeditative • Premeditative- (Verb) To ponder, or to plan beforehand. Explanation- This is a picture of my assignment notebook, which helps me to premeditative my assignments for the week. Without it, I would be very unorganized, and would not know what my plans were.

  15. Query • Query- (Noun) A question, one addressed to an unofficial or organization. (Verb) To ask a question about something. Explanation- Here, my brother is submitting a formal query to his teacher asking if he is able to leave school early for a dentist appointment. He did not know if he was able to do so. From my understanding, he was unable to do so, and had to go the entire day with a sore tooth.

  16. Ravenous • Ravenous- (Adjective) Extremely hungry. Explanation- This is a picture of my dad having a hardy snack after a hard day at work. He is quite ravenous, or hungry, due to the amount of manual labor that he had performed.

  17. Reprove • Reprove- (Verb) Reprimand or censure someone. Explanation- My mom reproved us from the living room because we were playing ball in the house. She was angry, and sent us to our rooms.

  18. Sanction • Sanction- (Noun) A threatened penalty for disobeying a law or rule. (Verb) Give official permission or approval for. Explanation- The sanction my brother received for stealing a cookie out of the cookie jar when told not to was loosing his cell phone for one day. He disobeyed my mother and she was not happy at all.

  19. Sublime • Sublime- (Adjective) Of such excellence or beauty. (Verb) Change directly into vapor when heated. Explanation- This antique lamp that used to belong to my grandmothers years ago has a very sublime figure to it. It contains great craftsmanship, and is very valuable.

  20. Truant • Truant- (Noun) A student who stays away from school without leaving or explanation. Explanation- This truant was caught leaving the school premises earlier this morning without notifying the school. Here is a picture of the student walking out the front door with his book bag.

  21. Vulnerable • Vulnerable- (Adjective) Exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally. Explanation- This is a picture of a fireplace with exposed flames. The living room where the fireplace is found has the potential vulnerability of catching on fire. Lucky the mistake was quickly noticed and the doors were closed before any danger could occur.
