  2. University Office Space Survey

  3. University Office Space Survey • Sample of Preliminary Findings: • 48 people with multiple offices • 2 Faculty have 3 offices • 35 Offices are assigned to Emeritus Faculty • Equivalent to ~5,700 ASF • Roughly 160 ASF per Emeritus Faculty

  4. University Office Space Survey • Sample of Preliminary Findings: • Largest Single Occupant Office 448 ASF • Smallest Office 49 ASF • Average Office Size 200 ASF • Draft Report just received, being reviewed

  5. University Office Space Survey

  6. University Office Space Survey

  7. University Office Space Survey • Strategies: • Reduce the number of multiple offices • 48 people are occupying more than one office • Multiple offices account for over 18,200 assignable square feet • Make up to 24 “new” offices available

  8. University Office Space Survey • Strategies: • Evaluate offices assigned to Emeritus Faculty • On a space available basis, emeritus faculty may occupy shared office space when they are actively engaged in ongoing teaching, research, publication, or service to the University. • Assignment of a private office to an emeritus professor must be approved by the Provost as an exception to policy and should be based on a level of activity comparable to that of a full-time faculty member.

  9. University Office Space Survey • Strategies: • Incentivize departments/units to adopt efficient space utilization principles based on the Administrative Space Guidelines • 8.33% (47,147 ASF) of office space surveyed is vacant • Notre Dame provides funding incentives to cover renovation costs for departments that adopt efficient space utilization principles such as open office environments and more efficient ASF/Person space factors.

  10. University Office Space Survey • Thank You!
