  2. Teacher Notes • Subject: Language Arts • Topic (s): Writing, spelling & definitions. • Title: Spelling, Definitions & Creative Writing Challenge. • Grade: 4 • Time: 1 hour

Objectives\ Intended Learning Outcome(s). • To test students knowledge of their learned spelling words for the week. • To make sure that students know and understand the definitions of their learned spelling words. • To broaden vocabulary and use in inventive ways. • To allow students to properly assess and correct their own work.

  4. Spelling Words. • pound • howl • jaw • bounce • cause • always • shout • aloud • south • couple • drawn • scout • false • proud • frown • sauce • gown • couch • dawn • mount

  5. Activity & Instructions **Word Unscramble** • Write your name at the top of the handout. • Students will have 10 minutes to unscramble the misspelled spelling words. • When the 10 minutes is up we will take another 5 minutes to correct papers. Students will correct their OWN papers. Example: ndaw = dawn

Matching Definitions Instructions You Can Do It!!!!!  • Students will match the spelling words with their correct definition, by writing the letter of the correct spelling word in the given space. • Students will have 15 minutes to do so. • As a whole we will take 5 minutes to go over the words and their definitions

Instructions Part 3- Creative Writing Put on your thinking caps! • Each student should take out a lined sheet of paper. • Students will view multiple pictures. • Students will then write 1 paragraph about the picture(s) and use 2 to 3 spelling words in their paragraph. • Students will have 10 minutes to do so, then we will take 10 minutes to share our ideas. • While sharing on the screen students will underline each spelling word that they used. • Let’s Get Started 
